Happy New Year!! I’m starting 2013 by going bare.
Today, I’ve changed my profile picture on social media sites to celebrate beauty apart from vanity. This year, I will continue to love the girl that I see in the mirror. This is one small effort toward building a new beauty culture that will encourage women to be and love themselves instead of contributing to the jealousy, self hatred, and competition that social media often perpetuates between women.
I'll be keeping my bare-faced photo up through tomorrow morning, and I do hope you'll join me by posting yours today and leaving it there until New Year's Day is done—after all, what better way to start 2013 than by celebrating real beauty that hasn't a thing to do with narcissism, vanity, or self-promotion.
